So my restaurant has a super low turnover rate, but for the last 3 months we have been blowing through dishwashers. Found out that our 55 yr old mentally handicapped dishwasher has been firing people without anyone’s knowledge. My manager and I have been laughing nonstop for 10 minutes.
Can any other Darden employees vouch for this? This is not cool…
Anndrea: Hi everyone! Happy Holidays!
Just a few questions for the executives there… I resigned about a month ago after nearly two years of serving and bartending at a Florida location. I often wonder why I stayed so long but, I do love the food and my co-workers and even most of the management. As for my questions, why do you demand such stringent rules on the amount of servers per shift, tables per server and number of servers on large parties? On a weekend night it was nearly impossible to break $600 in sales. Often my 3table section would be a one or two table section for most of the shift because my tables were held for large parties that weren’t due in for an hour or more or didn’t show up at all. Even more annoying is the fact that if two of my tables were used to make an eight top, I had to have another server on that table with me even though only my tables were being used. Also I’m not sure if you are aware but, the coupons are out of control. Online, e-mail, and in the paper have all contributed to a permanent devaluation of the product and a loss-loss for both the bottem line and service staff. The one thing that really stood out as different this year was the lack of information to employees regarding Starbridge. Do you think we are not able to understand a corporate take-over? Don’t we have a right to understand how the history of our corporate structure is being rewritten?I do have to commend you on the forced change from dish(old portal) to Krowd(new portal) during open enrollment this year. Since more of us needed healthcare more than ever it was so thoughtful to shorten the time to enroll by almost two weeks, make it impossible to do so on the outdated POS at work, and generally add to an already confusing enrollment situation by forcing users to switch to the glitchy new portal. Hope I get some answers for those much deserving friends that are still employed there. “When you’re here, you’re family.” Right? Hope that the Darden family members can afford their holiday this year.
My name is Mark and I was recently fired from Applebee’s (shocker) for what I consider to be the most disgusting reasons possible – 25 days before Christmas.
You see – last week I had a 3 top run up an 81 dollar tab (pretty high for Applebee’s), excuse themselves to smoke, and never return. Of course my options were to take a write up or pay – neither of which I was willing to do, so I found one of the guests by complete chance at the Walmart behind the restaurant between my shifts.
This lovely human being tried to run but I caught him and asked him to pay for his bill. We walked across the parking lot of Walmart, into Applebee’s where I thought he would pay. He didn’t. He never did.
Instead, I was sent home for 3 days while they discussed my employment and they then fired me. You see, apparently the group that owns this chain of Applebee’s (AIG or Apples Investor Group) has a policy in place that no one can confront a guest after they breach the door way. I was never aware of this policy and my manager admitted he wasn’t either. Where do I go from here? What do I do? I am writing the paper and called AIG and left a voicemail about how upset I am about all of this.
I know you guys are over a quarter million likes so maybe, just maybe, you can help.
Does anyone have any legal advice for Lisa?

Shayne: A friend of mine is mother to five kids and is a manager at McDonald’s. Her young daughter wrote this letter to her boss:
“Excuse me Mrs. Rich um can you give my mom a day off on thanksgiving please, we barely get to see her. Please please please, thank you, SuzAnne”
I know there’s not a lot of McDonald’s employees who follow this page, but this certainly must mirror the feelings of the children of THIS page’s followers. Pulled at my heartstrings.
