Restaurant Scam – Fake Letter Asking Restaurants To Pay Dry Cleaning Bill

My restaurant received this and all of the managers were puzzled trying to figure out who’s shift it happened during because none of us remembered it. The wording sounded fishy (“the poor darling”) so I Googled it and it seems to be happening elsewhere. Just a beware to other managers to not fall into the trap and also see if anyone else has gotten it!

Letter Reads:

To whom it may concern:

Thank you so much for offering to pay my dry cleaning bill when the server accidentally spilled iced tea on my dress, when we were at your place haven dinner with my fiance’s parents. I look forward to visiting your place again in the near future, as my fiance and I are moving there so he can help his father run the business. We are going to get married in your town next month I just wanted to say even with a lap full of tea our server was the politest. Most respectful server I have ever had and your establishment has the most mouth-watering food. Again, than u very much I am looking forward to moving to a place where such good-hearted people love. I’ve enclosed a copy of the dry cleaning bill I checked three places an took it to the cheapest one. And please tell our server not to worry about it. As it all came out of my white dress. The poor darling was more upset than I was about it. See you soon

Sincerely

Jean Littrell
