IYCATT (Admin) | September 30, 2013 | Customer Complaints | Comments Tawonna: @CheddarsCafe…WOW…you serve me raw chicken and THEN you charge for my coke??? Have you no shame???? #DISGUSTING!!! Yep pretty sure you did. If you bought an outfit and the pants didn't fit would you expect them to refund for the whole outfit or just the pants. Cheap ass. Kimberly Kasupski:December 2, 2013 at 12:16 amThey probably charged you for your soda on the off chance you were a decent human being who might still tip your server, because after all, servers don't cook the food. I have had guests where I work get their meal comp, but still asked to be charged for a drink because all they had was a credit card and still wanted to tip the server. Also- your coke was fine, wasn't it? You drank it, you pay for it. If you go out to a grocery store and accidentally buy bad food, you take it back & the store reimburses you for the bad food and ONLY that, not for every single item on the receipt. Kari Oliver Houston:November 18, 2013 at 1:05 pmShe didn't go out to dinner for a Coke! She went out for dinner & probably not alone. Been there so many times. Out with a friend, food raw, still frozen, crab rotten, etc. By the time they fix it, I'm not even hungry anymore & your friends meal is ruined too while their meal gets cold while they are politely stalling, waiting for your meal to be ready. It's a service industry for which we pay a great deal. When the crab was rotten at Pappadeaux they comped my food, dessert & gave me a $25 gift card for next time. I've been back several times since, btw. Bet she'll not go back to Cheddar's. Elle Cosentino:October 10, 2013 at 3:43 pmThe server doesn't have shit to do with whether or not the coke was comped nor the chicken being raw. A SERVER is just that. We SERVE the food. Should the coke have been comped? Most likely. But that is on the manager. Servers don't have the authorization to comp that, and speaking from experience, I don't see a server reprimanding her BOSS because YOU had to pay 2.19 for a fucking coke. The point is that this isn't an error on the server's part, but management, in which the server had no business in. She makes 2.15 and hour and has to deal with shit like this all fucking day. Give her a goddamn break, people. Your servers are people too. January 14, 2014 at 2:11 am"The server doesn't have shit to do with whether or not the coke was comped nor the chicken being raw. " This isn't true since they can pay for it themselves if they choose to. Also, you do realize that most restaurants have servers giving away free cokes all the time at the restaurants I go to. Sure sometimes they charge, sometimes they don't. It's on purpose. The managers usually give discounts to regulars as well, which includes free soft drinks. Douglas Painter:October 3, 2013 at 10:25 amYour server didn't charge you for it-- you ordered it , you drank it, you pay for it. If your server didn't charge you for the drink, they would be stealing from the restaurant Shannon D Martin:October 3, 2013 at 12:59 pmHonestly, I would've comped the coke, too. The customer's experience was already pretty bad, apparently, NOW it's news- and FB-worthy. I've worked in restaurants since 1992. The restaurant won't miss the $2. 'Stealing' is malicious. This has no malicious intent. Dawn Moore:October 3, 2013 at 1:29 amIf you drank the coke pay for the coke. James Raidernator Peterson:October 2, 2013 at 1:30 amshut up bitch and pay for your coke! how was the NEW meal you got for FREE??? DAMN FOOD STAMPS DONT WORK AT RESTAURANTS HUH? i build train cars, im not in the food industry but i know some who bust their asses. hi ash! lol Kathy Handy:October 1, 2013 at 11:52 pmI really think if you're serve raw chicken you should take the coke off for the inconvenience. Hopefully the customer would still tip the waitress taking care of you, server didn't cook that shit. Ailis Lynn:October 1, 2013 at 8:08 pmas a server myself, I have been in this position. A guest comes out to have a meal, only orders a non-alcoholic beverage and the entree, then the meal comes out wrong/undercooked/whatever the case may be. When the manager goes to comp the unsatisfactory meal from the check, I point out that the only thing left on the bill would be the drink, and he without question deletes the drink and picks up the whole bill. When a guest is so unhappy about (basically) the only thing they order, why drop a check at all? It's tacky in my opinion. The was this person reacted is outrageous, and publicly embarrassing her waitress was certainly not any way to fix the problem, but come on, if the person was this distressed about what happened with her meal, why not try to make sure she's leaving happy, or at least satisfied with the restaurant's attempt to make up for the mistake. The customer is clearly wrong in this scenario, and ideally should have paid for the part of the meal that came out correct (the soda), but the server could have used some common sense and just picked up the coke too. It would have made her look better, and the customer would have left happier. Joy L Smith:October 1, 2013 at 7:22 pmI probably would have comped the whole check. What with the service charge? Jared Maida:October 1, 2013 at 6:44 pmI would have just given the Coke to them. I mean come on, it's like 400% profit on every soda. It's not that big of a deal. If it was alcohol then I could see charging but for a Coke? Jodi Neel:October 1, 2013 at 7:44 pmI'm with you. Channon Wong:October 1, 2013 at 5:24 pmI bet they didn't even tip the server. Michele Melani:October 2, 2013 at 3:53 amTip da servah Effah! LOL Love you Channon Wong Beca Flanagan-Mattison:October 1, 2013 at 4:47 pmYES! You didnt cook the chicken but that person was most likely an ass hole about it to you as if you did. Why not retaliate. Besides, you shouldnt expect to come out to eat and not get charged for your drinks. Laura McKenna:October 1, 2013 at 4:39 pmComp the damn coke. Raw chicken is gross, her meal was ruined, isn't it worth comping a $2 coke to save a return customer? Beth Lunkenheimer:October 1, 2013 at 4:27 pmI won't name the restaurant, but I was served a raw burger earlier this year. I sent it back for one that was cooked and wasn't comped. I had no problem with it because I got the food the way it was intended to be consumed. Too many people want something for nothing these days... Lori Roberts:October 1, 2013 at 4:08 pmso would they have tipped the server at all if they were not brought a check at all? Jennifer Sloan:October 1, 2013 at 4:01 pmsorry I worked in the restaurant business for over 5 years and I would never have charged for the coke. The meal should have been comped completely. If the manager wanted to be cheap then he should have explained to the customer why. Kelly Taylor:October 1, 2013 at 3:55 pmYou ordered the coke and drank it...Pay for it. Lindsay Ringelstetter:October 1, 2013 at 4:05 pmRofl. did you see this one? http://ifyoucantaffordtotip.com/cant-sit-large-booth-simulate-new-football-plays-using-mozzeralla-sticks-players/ Kelly Taylor:October 1, 2013 at 4:17 pmLindsay Ringelstetter LOL "Due to a previous incident they're no longer willing to work with me" Cheryl Kempton-Clear:October 1, 2013 at 3:50 pmif your soda was flat, would you expect your food to be comped? Chanty Castor:October 1, 2013 at 3:43 pmThis fb page is a great example of why all people need to be more aware of how they act or behave rather when in the work force or as a customer. As a server I am very aware of social media especially after that Applebees server was fired and that is how I found this fb page. Now that being said I feel that the managers of these companies need to be even more aware of the fact that practically everyone now a days is carrying a smart phone or some sort of tablet with them and that means you need to really weigh the pros and cons of a situation. I personally think that if the manager did not charge for the coke they may have avoided this whole pictured posting to the web thing. As for the tip someone asked about I have to say if she is angry over the coke she dag gone sure didn't tip her server anything which sucks, but if you have ever been a server then you know that is how it goes. Its not right and it stinks, but we have to grin and bear it or find a different line of work. Brian Choy:October 1, 2013 at 2:58 pmHell, there was 6 of you, and looked like the whole meal was comped. 6 meals for 2.69, suck it up.... Ashley Iliff:October 1, 2013 at 1:29 pmNobody is perfect, if you expect perfection cook your own chicken at home! I've been a server for a long time and stuff like this happens, that is when you as a server tries to fix the problem which I'm sure they tried. People who go on a rant and takes pictures and expects everything for free has obviously never worked in the restaurant industry. Get over it there are a ton of other things we should be worrying about.....like maybe our government shutdown! Patrick Moran:October 1, 2013 at 12:39 pmNot comping the whole meal makes the restaurant look cheap and petty. In cooked chicken is a huge screw up. Michele Hansel:October 1, 2013 at 12:38 pmThey probably provided the guest with another "cooked" version of the meal. If it were me, I wouldn't see a problem with paying for my coke. Besides the fact that if they hadn't charged me for the coke and I didn't have cash on me, I would not be able to tip. Mistakes happen. I would be upset about the raw chicken, but if they righted my wrong I would be reasonable about it. Tamara Đurin:October 1, 2013 at 11:27 amThis happened to me once. I had a table of 4 adults and kids and they ordered mussel appetizer, said it was cold, ate it all then left because they didn't like the appetizer ,even though we aren't a seafood place but whatever, when the guy came up to me to ask for his bill he was expecting me to not charge him anything, so he gave me a dirty ass look and shook his head when I gave him the check... as they were leaving, all of their dinners came out and I noticed they ate all the mussels and I had to make fucking chocolate milk for their obnoxious kids damn right I will charge you for your drinks!
