IYCATT (Admin) | September 30, 2013 | Customer Complaints | Comments Tawonna: @CheddarsCafe…WOW…you serve me raw chicken and THEN you charge for my coke??? Have you no shame???? #DISGUSTING!!! Would you have charged the customer for the coke or comped the whole meal? You ordered it, pay for it. People are greedy. The manager taking the food off the bill wasnt enough? Give me a break. Lesleigh Hallford:October 1, 2013 at 2:49 amTotally Agree with Tammy. the thing is THAT SERVER IS NOT responsible for serving you raw chicken the kitchen is, there for the manager comped your meal, your server did nothing wrong to you. Shaun Sinnett:October 1, 2013 at 11:05 amVery true... But u guys got to remember, it may be the cook who does the meals, but u are the faces that serve them... So in public eyes, ur the ones who take the heat Micah Demaree:October 1, 2013 at 5:08 pmShaun Sinnett Uh yeah, thanks captain obvious, that's the point of this article, what these people are trying to say is that it should not be that way, customers should chill the fuck out, take a few seconds to think about it and realize the server just wants you to have a good experience. Jami JoAnne Russell:October 5, 2013 at 3:33 pmI've never known a restaurant to charge for the entire order - including the drink - if food is severed raw or otherwise bad. Considering the soda probably costs them 50 cents at most... Ayla Carey:October 1, 2013 at 2:19 amI have to side with the customer on this. When I was waiting tables, if someone's food was inedible, their whole meal was comped. Sides, drink and all. Mary Harshman:October 1, 2013 at 3:32 amAgreed. I've fought with managers over this. Heather Husband Ruseskas:October 1, 2013 at 4:32 amAfter we placed our order at a restaurant, the waitress brought our drinks and announced that the kitchen had lost power so our food could not be provided. We refused to pay for the sodas. Kelly Taylor:October 1, 2013 at 3:59 pmThat wasn't their fault. People can be so mean. It makes me sad :( Nanny Angel Waite:October 2, 2013 at 12:04 amHeather Husband Ruseskas Did you drink the sodas? Nina Gates:October 1, 2013 at 2:24 amI agree with Ayla and have to side with the guest. Her entire order should have been comped, coke and all. If she ordered a dish she didn't like and couldn't eat it, that is a different story. Being served raw food is unacceptable and could have potentially harmed the guest. Raw chicken isn't anything to play around with. Adam Prato:October 1, 2013 at 2:21 amI'm not known as being chinsy, but man why risk the bad publicity of serving undercooked chicken just to make $3 off a coke. That's a bad move on the manager's part. Mike Krone:October 1, 2013 at 2:32 amyou act like they served undercooked chicken on purpose.....the pic shows chicken thats pretty much cooked, but granted not the whole way. maybe they were real busy, maybe it was a new cook, theres tons of things that could have caused this to happen. Shit happens. The mistake was caught, and the manager took care of it. Im sure she got a new order that was properly cooked. and again, there was nothing wrong with the drink. so yea...free meal cuz they fucked up is expected, but c'mon...you want the manager to tip the server for you too?? oh thats right, you prob would blame this on the server and not tip at all because of it....do society a favor and stay home to eat cu you obviously dont get it Adam Mazza:October 1, 2013 at 2:51 amwow, overreact much? Didn't see any mention of tipping.Regardless of what you feel is fair/unfair or if some injustice has been done. Go find a person thats been successful in the service/restaurant industry and ask if they would charge for a fountain drink that has close to zero cost. They wouldn't. Stupid business decision period. Ashley Mayo:October 1, 2013 at 3:11 amThat was raw as hell, are you blind, this is disgusting. If you have ever had food poison you would understand. Adam Prato:October 1, 2013 at 3:19 amMike Krone detach from the hive mind for a while. You might like thinking for yourself for a change. Dawn Paulsell:October 1, 2013 at 4:59 amAdam Mazza exactly Johanna Sarad:October 1, 2013 at 6:36 pmIt was six cokes. Carol Madea:October 2, 2013 at 8:52 pmJohanna Sarad looks to me like it was seat #6, with one coke. otherwise that would be about 36 cents per coke. Sergio Alex Saucedo:October 1, 2013 at 2:18 amNothing wrong w/the coke right ? So u still need to pay for it ,cheap @/(/;/$:&("$;./ Veronica Fernbacker:October 1, 2013 at 2:20 amu circle the servers name, she didnt cook it, she served it, she is not going to cut it open b4 she serves it, lol, then u will complain on that too, shes suppose too check back how everything is if u have a complaint tell her, she will then tell management. if he does nothing call corporate. Allison Mills Hilinsky:October 1, 2013 at 2:18 amNo one likes getting raw chicken but seriously it's 3 bucks. Grow a set. Preston Green:October 1, 2013 at 12:27 pmSeeing that she was planning on paying more before that the fact, I agree with you. LaSha' Bennett:October 1, 2013 at 11:49 pmI don't think she planned to pay for anything, otherwise why would she complain? I have lived and worked as a server in a community with a mass quantity of "canadians" as we'd say.... you get really tired of the same ole "Get out of paying=FREE" cards people play. I had a party of 14 "canadians" one night. After their meal one girl went to the bathroom and stuck her finger down her throat and ran out screaming "this shitty place made me puke, we ain't payin for nuttin" and they all just walked out. I was so grateful to have a management staff that was used to it and never held servers responsible for that stuff. I'm sure the management would have comped her drink if they hadn't smelled her coming a mile away with that crap. It said "Seat 6" on the ticket, which makes me wonder how many more of the at least 5 guests complained and were comped. And of course, nothing that happened here (the food being "raw" or the drink not being comped) HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH MARIE!!! Jessica Biller:October 1, 2013 at 2:26 amjust because chicken is pink doesn't mean it's raw... Anna Ferrin:October 1, 2013 at 2:31 amExactly. Pink exists near veins and often close to the bone. Röbert Äiken:October 1, 2013 at 2:35 am It's a chicken breast. The chicken is clearly Medium, which is dangerous. While what you say is true, it is not the case with this pictured boneless chicken breast. Danielle Bailey:October 1, 2013 at 2:37 amAnna Ferrin Not trying to argue the point but *that* pink in that picture is not vein or bone - that is not far under the skin in a section that is clearly white meat chicken - it was probably frozen in that section and so didn't cook thoroughly. And raw/undercooked chicken is a health hazard. Matt Mcneill:October 1, 2013 at 6:44 amEspecially in dark meat. If the veins aren't pulled they blood from veins gets into chicken making it red. Went though this at a wedding where I work not long ago Bill Oakley:October 1, 2013 at 1:38 pmhave to agree with jessica, just because pussy is pink, doesn't mean it's no good for you Kevin Provost:October 1, 2013 at 2:14 amI've seen it done, usually it's the manager's only way of "getting back" at a table who just complains because they know they will get comped. Nozomi Hyuga Kyohaku:October 1, 2013 at 2:19 amdude they took care of the meal, pay for the damn coke #cheap Robert Figueira:October 1, 2013 at 4:30 amno give him the coke for free he almost gave him salmenella fo free Kari Oliver Houston:November 18, 2013 at 1:05 pmShe didn't go out to dinner for a Coke! She went out for dinner & probably not alone. Been there so many times. Out with a friend, food raw, still frozen, crab rotten, etc. By the time they fix it, I'm not even hungry anymore & your friends meal is ruined too while their meal gets cold while they are politely stalling, waiting for your meal to be ready. It's a service industry for which we pay a great deal. When the crab was rotten at Pappadeaux they comped my food, dessert & gave me a $25 gift card for next time. I've been back several times since, btw. Bet she'll not go back to Cheddar's. Chris Schroeder:October 1, 2013 at 2:33 amif the chicken was salty, i can understand having them pay for the coke...but RAW chicken? take the coke off the check! Chris Bowen:October 1, 2013 at 2:33 amThey would have still "stiffed" the server regardless. Probably "camped" 30-45 more minutes after the picture. Cathy Berlien Bender:October 1, 2013 at 2:34 amand what did they tip?????????? or did they expect that to be comped too!!!!!!!! Rita Dolman:October 1, 2013 at 3:42 amlol funny Kimberly Kasupski:December 2, 2013 at 12:16 amThey probably charged you for your soda on the off chance you were a decent human being who might still tip your server, because after all, servers don't cook the food. I have had guests where I work get their meal comp, but still asked to be charged for a drink because all they had was a credit card and still wanted to tip the server. Also- your coke was fine, wasn't it? You drank it, you pay for it. If you go out to a grocery store and accidentally buy bad food, you take it back & the store reimburses you for the bad food and ONLY that, not for every single item on the receipt. Röbert Äiken:October 1, 2013 at 2:34 amA manager should have comped the whole meal, but it's hardly the server's fault. What was she supposed to do? Cut into your food to see if it was done? Should she carry around a meat thermometer? This person is really mad at the kitchen, but she takes it out on the server. As a former chef, it makes me have an evil little chuckle inside, but as ex-management, it makes me cringe. Brett Beard:October 1, 2013 at 2:47 amwhat? You dont tip on the food quality bucko Brett Beard:October 1, 2013 at 2:49 amTip on the service Brett Beard:October 1, 2013 at 2:51 amyou dont know so dont speak Dawn Paulsell:October 1, 2013 at 5:01 amreally SOMEONE should have used a meat thermometer YES Amber Davis:October 1, 2013 at 2:37 amWow, That was so rude to circle the servers name! It wasn't her choice to leave the Coke on the bill.. With that said you shouldn't have a problem paying for a Coke that you drank and probably had more than one refill on... Dawn Moore:October 3, 2013 at 1:29 amIf you drank the coke pay for the coke. Crystal Draper Eason:October 1, 2013 at 2:26 amand of course lets blame the server because we ALL know the servers cook the food and SERVE it!! As far as paying for the coke.....seriously how cheap can u be??? Caleb Myers:October 1, 2013 at 2:14 aminb4 racist comment. Jon Knox:October 1, 2013 at 9:51 pmalready knew what color that thumb would be when i read the title here..... Ailis Lynn:October 1, 2013 at 8:08 pmas a server myself, I have been in this position. A guest comes out to have a meal, only orders a non-alcoholic beverage and the entree, then the meal comes out wrong/undercooked/whatever the case may be. When the manager goes to comp the unsatisfactory meal from the check, I point out that the only thing left on the bill would be the drink, and he without question deletes the drink and picks up the whole bill. When a guest is so unhappy about (basically) the only thing they order, why drop a check at all? It's tacky in my opinion. The was this person reacted is outrageous, and publicly embarrassing her waitress was certainly not any way to fix the problem, but come on, if the person was this distressed about what happened with her meal, why not try to make sure she's leaving happy, or at least satisfied with the restaurant's attempt to make up for the mistake. The customer is clearly wrong in this scenario, and ideally should have paid for the part of the meal that came out correct (the soda), but the server could have used some common sense and just picked up the coke too. It would have made her look better, and the customer would have left happier. Douglas Painter:October 3, 2013 at 10:25 amYour server didn't charge you for it-- you ordered it , you drank it, you pay for it. If your server didn't charge you for the drink, they would be stealing from the restaurant Shannon D Martin:October 3, 2013 at 12:59 pmHonestly, I would've comped the coke, too. The customer's experience was already pretty bad, apparently, NOW it's news- and FB-worthy. I've worked in restaurants since 1992. The restaurant won't miss the $2. 'Stealing' is malicious. This has no malicious intent. Ashley Iliff:October 1, 2013 at 1:29 pmNobody is perfect, if you expect perfection cook your own chicken at home! I've been a server for a long time and stuff like this happens, that is when you as a server tries to fix the problem which I'm sure they tried. People who go on a rant and takes pictures and expects everything for free has obviously never worked in the restaurant industry. Get over it there are a ton of other things we should be worrying about.....like maybe our government shutdown! James Raidernator Peterson:October 2, 2013 at 1:30 amshut up bitch and pay for your coke! how was the NEW meal you got for FREE??? DAMN FOOD STAMPS DONT WORK AT RESTAURANTS HUH? i build train cars, im not in the food industry but i know some who bust their asses. hi ash! lol Aaron Joseph Anthony:October 1, 2013 at 4:39 amI work for cheddars and I can tell u there r so many things wrong with this's picture. Everything cooperate is done the same. That isn't one of our receipts, our rice doesn't have carrots in which this one does, and raw chicken doesn't look like that unless there's a vain It. Raw chicken is translucent in color, not red like a steak Karen Byerly:October 1, 2013 at 4:49 amVein* Erin Bossett Johnson:October 14, 2013 at 1:52 pmI used to work for cheddars nd our receipts did look like that nd we had peas nd carrots in our rice...I guess there isn't a company standard on these things huh?!
