All my life I have been told that I speak like a white man and present myself as a white man….that I am simply not black enough….what exactly does that mean? Last night was not an exception. Last night, I waited on a rude couple (African American) who at the end of their dining experience, decided to write me this on the check. I was so shocked that all I could do was laugh…not laugh at the check itself but their sheer stupidity. The sad thing is the mentality comes from expectations of a negative stereotype of a black man from another black man but cry wolf if another man of another ethnicity calls out the negative actions. I am a human being first and foremost who also happens to be of African American decent. My focus in life isn’t “being black “…its being a good human being….to God and myself and the people in my life! A man by definition, is supposed to be courageous, have a sense of morals and responsibility….a man of compassion….great compassion…to immerse oneself in education and face the challenges in life head on with the will of God! So I am not black enough? Okay well….I am black enough for me but I am a great man! A gentleman! And I really pray that there will come a day when the whole world wakes up! My name is Lamont Reed, I am a man of compassion and I am proud of me and who I am….I am proud to just be me and show love to my friends and families of all ethnicities and I even have my own flag to wave…my big L flag! For Lamont, of course.
After receiving bad service, a customer left this unexpected note and tip behind for his server…
Dear Patricia T,
I am attempting to show you more kindness and attention than you showed me today. I have also arranged to buy your meal during your shift with your manager as well. I was once a server and I know it sucks! I had crappy days and bad tippers but never gave attitude. It was always about guarding my words and actions and rising to the job I was hired to do. Take the money and buy a snickers.
“The black guy they sat in your section and you didn’t want to serve because the don’t tip”
Have you ever adjusted your service based on a stereotype?
Yea, this happened to my coworker tonight!
Another excuse for someone to use a cause to be cheap. This isn’t the first time this has happened…
- I Don’t Tip Because of Obama!
- Get The Other 10 Percent From Obama
- No Justice For Trayvon Martin, No Tip!
- I am starting my own redistribution plan…like Obama
- And Another One…
- Obama excuse strikes again…
This guy told me he was going to leave cash and when I went to greet another table he walked out and left me this instead. I checked back on him several times and he never told me anything was wrong.
-There was a bug in my beer
-There were fruit flies circling my table
-Trevor boxed up wrong kids meal for my wife who left
-Steak was overcooked
-All food was cold
-Trevor has the personality of a pair of sweaty balls
Why do people feel the need to publicly post their receipts showing how incredibly ugly of a person they are?…
Rose’s post on Applebee’s page:
Two tips in one …. it doesn’t get better than this right Applebee’s? ?
Receipt Reads: Next time it would be nice if you asked what sides we wanted instead of just assuming. Your tip is due to my compassion NOT your service.
Receipt Total – $94.48
Receipt Tip – $10.52
