The Automatic Gratuity Outrage

Since several restaurants in New York City have recently started adding automatic gratuity to patron’s checks regardless of the number of diners, many customers are outraged.

Darden Restaurants, which owns Olive Garden and Red Lobster, released a statement to CBS responding to the complaints. “The automatic gratuity is a convenience for our guests,” the statement said. “Our guests always have the option of adding to, reducing or completely deducting the automatic gratuity before paying their check.” (Yahoo News)
